What Are Dual Idler Gears?
What’s a dual idler and why should you care? Two idler gears spread the load over twice as much surface area for better torque transfer, making this the strongest gear combination you can get in a portal. We made the gears from durable 9310 steel alloy for maximum toughness and precision ground them with a CNC process for a perfect fit. Basically, we built these portals for maximum efficiency and durability. There’s not a mud bog, creek bed, or nasty trail that could hold you back with a dual idler setup.

When you’re thinking about GDP portals, gear reduction is one of the most important choices you can make. Lower gear reductions won’t cap off your rig’s top speed too badly and will give you improved torque. Higher gear reductions will give you maximum power, but will limit your top speeds.
